Learning Disability Services

Work for us in Learning Disability services and you will be joining a service that has a growing national reputation for its values, quality and focus on each person as an individual. You will also find these are not ordinary jobs. Our recruitment is personalised with the aim of appointing people who are matched to each person. We aim to appoint staff to support individuals, not to just do a support role, so we make job descriptions specific to an individual and include the types of activities that the individual wants to do.

We find that matching support workers with similar interests to individuals helps to develop positive relationships that lead to individuals broadening their range of experiences. One person that we support has recently achieved his ambition of running a marathon, having appointed support workers who shared his interest. Amongst our staff team we have anglers, African drummers, a number of football fans and some young staff who support individuals to go ‘clubbing’.

Working as a Support Worker

It’s all about being a constant buddy to our service users. You’ll be around to support them in all aspects of their lives, from day trips to the local leisure centre, attending community groups, perhaps even something exciting like going to the theatre on an evening, right through to everyday chores and personal care. Whatever the activity or task ahead, you’ll be sharing lots of your time with them - utilising your own life skills to support them in their own independence.
