Peppercorn

June 2012

Jubilee festivities were in full swing at Peppercorns desite the wet weather. Wisely moving the street party indoors, residents enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch, serenaded by live music from the 1930s to 1950s, before being visited by the Queen*.

Residents dressed in union jack colours said they enjoyed the day (they are always game for a celebration), one resident stood up to thank staff for putting on the event.

*Mysteriously, the Queen had more than a passing resemblance to Manager, Christine Glacken in a mask and shoes fit for royalty.

April 2012

Family, friends, staff and residents celebrated Colin's 63rd birthday. Music-loving Colin, a popular resident who does some work at the Papworth Trust, enjoyed a party organised by his family at Peppercorns.

March 2012

Peppercorn residents and staff raised over £500 through events held in March 2012. In addition to a popular clairvoyant night, staff and residents held a cream tea in the gardens. Accompanied by a pianist and singer who played songs from a wide range of styles on request, the event was enjoyed by over 50 friends and family members as well as residents. Christine Glacken, Manager, said "It was a lovely day."

Tenants and staff at the charity-run home contribute fundraising ideas and join in with organising activities.

The funds raised through the events, raffles and cake sales will go towards doing additional activities and trips, such as the day out in Essex planned for 03 July.
