Dereham Road residents have a great time at Jamies Game

The beautiful game lived up to its name when two teams made up of celebrities and ex Norwich City players put on a fantastic display at Jamies Game held at Norwich City’s ground, Carrow Road. The event, organised by Sellebrity Soccer, is held annually and is now in its third year.  It is organised as a benefit match for the Community Sports Foundation (CSF) Jamies Game is named after Jamie Abbot who is a CSF ambassador. The CSF promotes sport for disadvantaged children and disabled children and adults in Norfolk; two Dereham Road residents, Richard and Wayne, both attend football training once a week which is part of the CSF’s disability soccer school. They also went along to the match and had a great time as shown by the many selfies (of which a very small selection are shown) they managed to get with the  celebrity players. A crowd of 9,500 attended the match and was treated to a feast of goals. The score was already 4 –3 when Jamie Abbot came on as a substitute and scored a last minute equaliser. There was then a tense round of penalties to decide the final outcome. Tinchy Stryder’s team were victorious over the Jake Wood XI by a single goal as they won 4—3 on penalties. A great time was had by all, thousands of selfies were taken and a fantastic cause benefited from everyone’s efforts.
