Holmers House – Dementia Awareness Event

Holmers House – Dementia Awareness Event

Our Holmers House – Care Home, held its first big dementia information evening for families and friends of people living with dementia in June 2016.  The event provided awareness and understanding about dementia, and offered support and guidance for families, may of whom can struggle coping with the challenges that having a loved one living with dementia may present.

The meeting held in a local church hall was also supported by the Holmers House team of volunteers and was kindly arranged by one of the homes befrienders.

Over 20 people attended the presentation about dementia and attendees also had the chance to participate in a Q&A session. This meant the Holmers House  team were able to answer many of the concerns, questions and queries about the condition that were raised.

Families clearly found the whole evening extremely useful and enjoyable and feedback showed they really appreciated having the chance to talk and learn more about dementia. It was also a great opportunity to be able to share their experiences and network with each other.

The next event will be held in September 2016, date still to be arranged.
